My computer autoconfigured/downloaded the newest drivers for this 3080 so no complaints there. Overall, it was just taking apart the case, removing two screws that held it into the support frame, unplugging old one, plugging in new one and rescrewing/adding 2 more of these cables which were already In my pc. I was actually Gifted a 3080 (id have to look at the name for the rest of it) today :) great birthday gift lmfao. Unfortunately the end user suffers here no matter what but your best bet is to lobby AMD via /r/amd to get on Jagex about working with them. they can barely maintain the client + mobile clients as is. Should Jagex be working with AMD on this? Yes absolutely.

The problem is that Jagex's legacy code piece is probably propping up loads of content (with typical poor documentation that Jagex is notorious for) and can't simply be removed and would be most easily remedied on the AMD driver side. When AMD finally got their shit together on OGL back in like May of '22 they broke the legacy code piece that was in place. My best guess is that due to AMD's shitty OGL implementation in the past there is a piece of legacy code somewhere in RuneScape that was added to work around an AMD issue. RS in particular will also cause the driver to freak the everloving fuck out as well if I tab off the game and then interact with anything else using the GPU and there's about a 50% chance of outright crashing the entire graphics driver doing it.ĪMD only began investigating it recently (when it started appearing in the release notes). Nothing but Ctrl+alt+dels menu will render above it even task manager set to always on top. The weirdest thing OpenGL does for me on AMD though is even if the game is borderless windowed it's "stuck" as being the "top" window. Disable the "enhancements" in the registry and suddenly it's totally fine after the initial shader build and never stutters again. Once you quit it'll stutter and the FPS will ping pong up and down for another few minutes every new asset. It's unplayable and stays unplayable unless you load every single location, effect and enemy for a few minutes without quitting. Seriously get any AMD card and go play Destiny 2. The same way they've never given a fuck about their newer shader system making dx11 games that don't prebuild shaders unplayable every single time a new asset loads in or you restart it. Their OpenGL performance is terrible and they've never given two fucks about it(their "improvements" awhile back did nothing outside of Minecraft).
